GOODBYE TOUR PERMITS
Effective March 1, 2011, the Boy Scouts of America is no longer using
"Local Tour Permits" or "National Tour Permits".
The online Tour
Permit system has been suspended. This is all being replaced by a
system called the "Tour Plan". Basically, this change is meant to
ensure the same level of preparation and safety planning by a unit for
a trip - but with fewer bureaucratic delays and headaches. So what is
different? 1) We review all tour plans in our council office; no more
delays for regional or national review. 2) The tour plan consists of a
tour planning worksheet to be completed by the unit. The document is a
'fillable' PDF that you email to
frontdesk@bsacac.org 21
days in advance of the unit tour. (You can print it out and mail it,
too, since it's an 8.5x11 document - but we'd prefer you email us the
electronic copy.) 3) Our council keeps the approved Tour Plan and your
unit gets a copy. 4) There is a 21-day advance notice requested for
units to submit the plan. 5) The form requests a single point of
contact (not on the tour) for council use. CLICK the first link below
to see the Tour Plan instructions. CLICK the second link below to see
the Tour Plan form that you'll need to fill out and submit.
